we go shopping with Lidl
There were hours of lightning and thunder in the night, that we could hardly get any sleep at all. But getting up now, everything is calm and dry. We drive on the Lidl carpark to buy some basic things such as mineral water, juice, coffee, milk, rice, toilet tissue and things like that. Then we drive off but soon turn off again, to Avola Lido, that is.

The road goes right along the shore, and Avola Lido looks rather beautiful.The sky is bright blue, there is broad sunshine, but the sea is still uproaring from last night. We easily find a carpark with a view of the sea, as it should be.

As soon as we are out and look around for a bit, a Sicilian man approaches us. He tells us he had lived and worked in Germany for 44 years. For 3 years now he is retired and back on the island and in his home town of Avola. He tells us that he lives very happily on his German pension here the more so since he has a house of his own. He looks very content. We tell him that we have been on Sicily since mid-November. Well, that surprises him and he is pleased we are enjoying our stay on the island for so long.

In the afternoon we take a walk along the coast and into Avola Lido. the houses look more well-kept around here. On this platform we feel as if the waves come crashing right against us. And that feels somewhat strange. We so love the coast and its vegetation around here. And the sun does us good. Well, there is no rain in store for us now.
