the beach of Quiberon
We want to go for a beach walk every morning now. For this is what we were longing forwhile in the south these past weeks when we were dragging ourselves in the parching heat. It is around 9:00h, not too early to make sure the sand isn't clammy from night time any more.

the Atlantic is alive
The shrieks of seagulls is what reminds Annette of her home (which is the Batic Sea) the most. It is astonishing just how quickly she disengaged from Bavaria, where she has spent the better part of 10 years. She has already felt that way when we were in Greece last year.

there are large flocks
of seagulls here now
However, there are many seagulls here now who we had missed in July. We are just about to finish our walk when we get to talk with a local man. He tells us that the past 3 weeks had been very rainy and stormy. Quite contrary to a regular August. When we tell him of our time spent in the Périgord, he really gets to revelling. His sister lives in Montauban, says he. And we have no difficulty to know where exactly this town is. It's south of Cahors where we had been.

the dunes are endlessly
wide
Today we don't feel like a beach day. Although the temperatures are well in the twenties. The waters of the Atlantic have cooled down, though. We just keep to our place and read books. And this way the day passes in our favorite home which is Brittany.
