intelligent tree fixations along the street
We are leaving at eight. Heading in the direction of Avignon-Nîmes-Montpellier, today's destination is the motorhome parking bay in Aniane. This one we have chosen from our guide for, we cannot park the big Phoenix anywhere we desire, anymore. There is quite a wind going, must be the famous Mistral sein. However, the air is rather warm.

violent winds
When we bend off to the autobahn A9 short of Montpellier, the storm is so hard that it is even indicated on the large boards. And then we hear a strange noise and bang, the arm with the side mirrors tips over. And it's so typical that now a resting place would not come. Thus Herbert tips the arm back during the drive. Pooh, what a hell of a noise when he opens the window. The storm is so hard.

the arm with the side mirrors is tipped over
The arm would tip over twice more until we can stop somewhere to mend it. Meanwhile the storm would not grow less. We head for Gignac, the neighboring town of Aniane.

the motorhome parking bay of Aniane
Arriving the parking bay in Aniane, for some reason we dislike it a bit. Also, the dumping and drinking water facility have gone. We feel somewhat funny there. So we leaf through the guide for another motorhome parking bay, right at the Canal du Midi.

It is 16:00h when we head for La Retarde at the Canal du Midi. While the sky turns dark. Then the disappointment: The parking bay in La Retarde does no longer exist. Instead we are welcomed by a "Camping-car interdit" road sign. Thus we thumb through the guide again. Do let's go to Trèbes at the Canal du Midi. But it's the same: We are unwelcome there. So we park on the huge parking space of a Zone Commercial somewhere short of Carcassonne. Well, we think that we used to travel better without any guide or navigation system or whatsoever. Either the parking bays do no longer exist or the discription varies from reality. And as for the navigation system: It is unbelievable what kind of adventurous roads or field-paths we are suggested to bend off to. Well, we don't. Annette rather does the old fashioned way of reading road maps, the way she used to do.

today's route ca. 266km
