view of Mojácar
On the coastal section between Águilas and Carboneras there are many places where you can stay with your motorhome. But we have the village of Mojácar planned for today. On a mountain of up to 172m high is the old Moorish settlement.

arriving the top with the view to the sea
The place is a typical example of the famous white villages of Andalusia. Down at the beach there are large apartment houses, and we need to watch out for the road to the old village. The last part to the top appears a little too steep for our motorhome, so we park below the village. Then we ascend to the top. Thank goodness the sky is overcast today with only 23 degrees.

in the lanes of the white village
We love such lanes and stay somewhat away from the hustle and bustle. Fortunately, now in low season there is little business so Herbert can take his photos without any people run into them. (The photos, that is)

There are many secluded corners and squares where we can rest. From anywhere you have a view down to the sea. We are curious and look into an old house that is being renovated and are very pleased with it. With arches, fireplace, overlooking the sea, gallery, a small spiral stair case. It is very lovely. We wonder what the price will be like?

one of the many cozy pubs
This is a place we really enjoy again, after the town of Peníscola. One could also feel like on a Greek island.

Flower pots hang on the white walls everywhere. They probably need to be watered every day in the heat.

Despite efforts to preserve the original character, more restaurants and souvenir shops open all around. It probably is just a matter of time until this place is losing its present charm.

the public drinking water source
Below the village is a public drinking water source. Many openings bubble water incessantly. The local people get their drinking water here. We also try a sip from our hollow hand. Cold and delicious it is.

Hundi is sleeping in the shadow
Short of our parking lot Annette cannot resist to pick a handful of medlars which grow very rich. How sweet the taste.

In the afternoon we ride on further via Carboneras and Almería. On the road again, we also see many architectural desasters. But fortunately no longer the ten-storey high-rise buildings. The architecture is very different than along the Costa Blanca, everything is snow white with a touch of Arabic. In Almeria we find a place at the harbor for the night.
